Poznań, new venue of XXI ICL

Adam Mickiewicz University, AMU/UAM, in Poznań will host the upcoming XXI International Congress of Linguists from September 22 to 28, 2024.
The congress originally planned to take place in June 2023 in Kazan (Russia) had to be moved due to the current situation. Read more.

Inauguration CIPL/CIPSH chair Ethnolinguistic Vitality and Diversity in the World

The CIPL/CIPSH Chair Ethnolinguistic Vitality and Diversity in the World is very active and different workshops and lectures are being organized. Due to the pandemic situation over the last two years, it was impossible to organize the inauguration of the chairholder, Prof. Dr. Felix Ameka. We are very happy that the inauguration can take place this year, on the 30th of September 2022. The inauguration will be accompanied by a symposium. Read more.

The Linguistic Association of Nigeria


The Linguistic Association of Nigeria (LAN) was founded in 1980. The Association has over 500 members. LAN regulates activities relating to the languages of Nigeria. It collaborates with other government and non-governmental agencies to carry out several development and advocacy campaigns to promote Nigerian languages and cultures. Read more.
 

Center for Studies in Letters

The Portugese Center for Studies in Letters (CEL) is compiling an inventory of the extant metalinguistic texts of national languages spoken in African countries, written by Portugese-speaking missionaries and laypeople. Also CEL is currently creating the infrastructure for Portugaliae Monumenta Linguistica, which is designed as a Digital Humanities project. Read more.

Linguistic Bibliography


In 2021, the Linguistic Bibliography Online (LBO) database continued to grow steadily and the Linguistic Bibliography yearbook for 2020 was published on schedule in September 2021.  With 78% of the bibliographical entries describing publications from 2020, this yearbook was more up to date with recent publications than previous volumes. International Semantics Conference

The Organizing Committee is pleased to announce the International Semantics Conference - InSemantiC 2022 to be held in Porto, Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Porto, on 21-23 November 2022.

Linguistic summit in Kazan

In preparation for the planned XXI ICL 2023 in Kazan, Kazan Federal University (Russia), together with the Institute of Linguistics RAS and the Institute of Linguistic Studies RAS, organized an International Linguistic Summit "LANGUAGE DIVERSITY IN THE GLOBAL WORLD". Prof. Camiel Hamans represented CIPL and presented a plenary under the title 'Why a language counts more than a Siberian tiger'. Read more.
